Recognizing Impact and Inspiring Improvement

Every day, individuals and teams across BC are making a difference in health care. The BC Quality Awards celebrate and showcase the impact of their work.

Through the awards, we:

  • highlight meaningful contributions to quality of care
  • share learning across teams, organizations and communities
  • celebrate people and teams making a difference
  • inspire others to take action in their own areas of care
  • strengthen a culture where improvement is seen, supported and sustained

By recognizing this work, we help great ideas spread and support continued improvement across the health system.

How the BC Quality Awards Work

When you nominate someone for a BC Quality Award, you help shine a light on the people and teams improving care across the province. Here’s how the process works from start to finish.

Choose a category and submit a nomination.

Review the award categories, choose the best fit and submit your nomination before the deadline. Anyone can submit one or more nominations, whether you’re recognizing a team or a colleague for an individual award.

Nominations are reviewed by a judging panel.

Each nomination is reviewed by a diverse panel of health system leaders, patient partners and improvement experts. Submissions are assessed using criteria specific to each award category.

Winners and runners-up are contacted.

After the judging process, successful nominations are contacted directly to inform them that they are a BC Quality Award winner or runner-up.

Winners are celebrated and learning is shared.

Winners receive a $2,500 sponsorship to support and share learning from their projects or to invest in ongoing development.
