Zander Willms: What Does It Truly Mean to Be a Team?

Zander is a second-year medical student in UBC’s Northern Medical Program based in Prince George. As a learner who is passionate about health care quality improvement and the evolution of optimal patient-centred care, Zander seeks opportunities that will help deepen his understanding of the essence of quality practice.

Inspired by recent evidence on the effectiveness of team-based care, Zander hopes to join with others to advocate for the advancement of team-based systems. As a future physician, Zander believes that encouraging coordinated, collaborative practice across allied partners is the only way forward in a health care system evolving to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex patient population.
