Dallas Smith
Director, Analytics & Strategic Initiatives
Dallas joined Health Quality BC in November 2021. Prior to joining, he was Senior Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services with the Yukon Government. In this role, he provided strategic advice that improved the operational performance, efficiencies and engagement across the health system. He also provided executive leadership and oversight on a number of high-priority projects, such as co-leading the development of Yukon’s first Lived-Experience Engagement Team. Working closely with Yukon First Nation Partners, services providers, and senior leaders in the Department of Health and Social Services, Dallas played a central role in the development, and implementation of Yukon’s first Mental Wellness Strategy, which included the creation of a new community hub delivery model to improve access for rural Yukoners.
Dallas has a passion for community health and team-based care, loves studying how health and social service systems work together, and identifying appropriate ways to engage with communities to identity improvement ideas and priorities. He has specific interests in quality improvement, using data to inspire change, and program evaluation. Prior to his time in the Yukon, Dallas worked in clinical and management roles for a specialized mental health and addiction program at a local Community Health Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
Dallas holds a Masters degree in Health Administration from the University of Toronto, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), and a degree in Clinical Social Work from McGill University. He also completed an EXTRA Fellowship (Executive Training Program) in quality improvement with the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement and is a Certified Health Executive (CHE) with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
Originally from Squamish, Dallas is excited to be returning to BC with his partner, and their two dogs, and is looking forward to all his favorite activities that come with being closer to the ocean, mountains and his family.
