Leader, Health System Improvement

Amie Hough is a Leader, Health System Improvement for Primary and Community Care. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia and is a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers.

Amie joined Health Quality BC in May 2023, and comes to us from Interior Health where she has most recently worked as a Lead, Transformation, for Primary and Community Care.  In this role, Amie supported multiple partners to address large scale system transformation projects including the Central Okanagan Primary Care Networks, and the Urgent and Primary Care Centres. Amie utilises a patient-centred philosophy, including cultural safety and humility in systems and clinical practice.

Amie worked as a clinical social worker in Primary and Community care for over a decade, as part of early pilots for implementing team-based primary care in B.C.  As a leader, Amie continues to utilize her social work values and lens to guide her practice to encompass social justice, equity and community engagement when transforming systems.

Currently, Amie is leading Health System improvement projects such as the Provincial Team-Based Care Network, co-creating the Team Up! Learning Series with UBC’s Innovation Support Unit and developing learning and development programming in response to the needs of leaders, clinicians, patient and families across BC.

When not working, Amie enjoys being active in the beautiful Syilx/Okanagan territory with her husband and two energetic boys.  Amie also volunteers her time in the disability community, including one of her favourite organizations, Special Olympics. Amie is thrilled to be part of the Health Quality BC team.
