Edlyn Laurie

Edlyn has been a prosecutor for 19 years. Her current position is General Counsel with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC). She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia in 2003 and was called to the B.C. bar in 2004.  She has extensive experience in criminal litigation. In addition, she provides advice on various legal matters within the PPSC and to law enforcement agencies. She is also involved in teaching and is currently a vice-principal with the PPSC School for Prosecutors, an annual training program for federal prosecutors.

Edlyn is Chinese-Filipino, was born and raised in Manila, Philippines, and immigrated to Canada in 1999.  She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of the Philippines. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Edlyn has worked a number of jobs in various businesses, both in Manila and Vancouver, for example, as general manager, administrative assistant, and receptionist.

Edlyn has personal experience going through patient care in B.C., having previously undergone treatment for cancer. She believes in the paramount importance of high quality patient-centered health care.
