Allison Muniak

Director, Human Factors & Administrative Burdens


Allison is a highly motivated executive leader with a unique blend of psychology, engineering, quality and safety, and healthcare experience applying human factors principles on strategy, team development, projects, and successful implementations. She currently works at Health Quality BC as the Director, Human Factors and Administrative Burdens leading the project team tasked to identify and make recommendations for administrative burdens for physicians.  A collaborative leader and system thinker, Allison has proven results in facilitation, relationship and network building, organizational development, interpersonal communication skills, and improved safety/quality outcomes. Most recently, Allison was the Executive Director for Quality & Patient Safety and Infection Prevention and Control at Vancouver Coastal Health and led the quality, safety and clinical risk, and experience in care portfolios for Vancouver Coastal Health since 2016. Her portfolio included over 160 full-time staff that support quality improvement and assurance, patient safety, patient experience, risk management, quality data analytics, medical quality and physician leadership, infection prevention and control, and planetary health.

Her passion has been to build innovative and sustainable solutions in healthcare systems with an emphasis on partnerships, collaboration, and advancing system improvements. She believes there is an untapped potential to propel transformational system change and the sustainability of healthcare in British Columbia and Canada. Given her expertise and strong understanding of the operational realities in our current system, along with her consulting experience and extensive provincial and national partnerships and networks, she is well positioned to lead health care improvement.
