Director, Health System Improvement
Chelsea joined Health Quality BC in February 2012. As a Director of Health System Improvement, she currently has the privilege of building provincial quality initiatives within the mental health and substance use and long-term care sectors – and working with many incredible partners along the way.
She is grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to projects and initiatives that impact the health and wellness of British Columbians. Over the years, this has included administering the Patient Voices Network as an important platform for connecting people with lived and living experience with those working in the health system so they can partner to improve care. It has also included updates to the BC Health Quality Matrix, which establishes a more inclusive and strengthened definition of health care quality, as well as leading HQBC’s annual Quality Forum and supported learning programs such as Quality Academy.
Chelsea enjoys diving into complex issues, loves to connect with new people and is passionate about bringing in diverse thinking and learning in her work. She has a Master of Arts in Community Development and a Graduate Certificate in Evaluation from the University of Victoria. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in International Development Studies and Philosophy. She is a Fellow with the International Society of Quality in Health Care and has completed courses in quality improvement, coaching, leadership, project management and human factors in health care.
Outside of work you’ll most likely find her at a local dance or theatre production, attempting to sing along to her favourite musical songs, or spending time with her beloved family and friends.
