Jo Sedman

Leader, Strategic Initiatives


Jo joined Health Quality BC in August 2023 as a Leader with the Analytics & Strategic Initiatives team.

Jo has a clinical background as a Registered Nurse specialized in Critical Care and has worked in various Intensive Care Units in Alberta and BC. She holds a Master of Health Studies degree, with a focus on leadership. Jo is passionate about health care transformation through relational leadership, mentorship, and inspiring others to be change-makers. She also values people and believes it is important to take time to listen to their stories and learn about their culture.

Jo has been a leader in the not-for-profit long-term care sector focusing on staff learning and development, as well as infection prevention and control. Most recently Jo worked as a consultant in patient safety, facilitating and supporting leaders in the disclosure of harm process and conducting critical incident reviews. While in this role, Jo also regularly engaged with patients and families, listening to their experiences of care and their concerns. Then collaboratively reviewing these concerns to identify any improvement opportunities and meet the goal of providing resolution for patients and families, while fostering trust in the health care system.

Jo is a third-generation settler of mixed European descent and is privileged to live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Syilx Okanagan peoples. She is also a busy dog-mom who enjoys getting creative, reading, and being outdoors. Jo can often be found paddle boarding on a local lake or hiking or dirt biking on the mountain trails in the beautiful Okanagan valley.
