Michelle Kennedy

She/Her/Hers

Leader, Health System Improvement

Michelle joined Health Quality BC in July 2023 and is a Leader on the Health System Improvement Team working on Learning About Opioid Use Disorder (LOUD) Collaboratives.

Prior to joining HQBC, she worked at BC Children’s Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, first as a bedside nurse and most recently as their Quality & Safety Leader. In her role as Quality & Safety Leader, Michelle lead the team through its most recent Accreditation Canada survey and was responsible for the ongoing monitoring of the Patient Safety Learning System in the PICU. She worked alongside a diverse healthcare team to deliver high-quality care to some of the most critically ill children of the province and enjoyed involving the frontline care team as well as individuals with lived experience in quality improvement initiatives.

Michelle always looks forward to connecting with others and is especially passionate about advocating for psychological safety in healthcare. She firmly believes that there is space for everyone in quality improvement and likes to provide healthcare teams with tangible tools and a supportive hand as they work towards providing high quality care in our province.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Queen’s University and is in the process of completing her Master of Health Leadership & Policy with a specialization in Clinical Education at UBC. She is also a graduate of HQBC’s Quality Academy Online program. When not at work, you can find Michelle exploring the beautiful outdoors or cozied up at home doing some sort of craft project.
