Sarah Ickowicz

Sarah Ickowicz, MD FRCPC, DRCPSC (Addiction Medicine) is a staff General Internal Medicine physician and Addiction Medicine specialist at St Paul’s Hospital, a member of the Division of Addiction Medicine at Providence Health Care, and a clinical assistant professor in the UBC Department of Medicine. She completed her MD at the University of Toronto in 2013, and her General Internal Medicine fellowship at the University of British Columbia in 2018. She has also completed the BC Centre on Substance Use Addiction Medicine Fellowship and Addiction Medicine Research Fellowship. Prior research projects have explored drug preferences among people with opioid use disorder, access to safe consumption services for women with opioid use disorder, and prescriber perspectives on opioid safer supply. She has an interest in health care quality and equitable access to high quality care for people who use drugs. She hopes this fellowship training will help her to identify gaps in care and contribute to system improvement as British Columbia’s model of addiction care expands over the coming years.
