Interior Health is encouraging staff, patients, clients and others to pledge to make positive change. We share the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council’s belief that individual acts of change – regardless of size – can lead to a significant improvement in the health and wellbeing of British Columbians. As such, we are working to get the message out in many ways to encourage employees, clients and others to make a new pledge or join an existing pledge.
Interior Health partnered with the Council in 2015 in support of the first Change Day in BC, and the campaign inspired pledges from all across our large region. Our goal for this Change Day will be to reach 5,000 pledges by November 17, 2017 (17-11-17).
In order to reach this goal, we are using multiple channels to get the word out. Senior leadership has sent out messages about how they want to support people in committing to make changes. The Interior Health Quality and Safety Team gathered to have their pictures taken with their pledge cards to inspire others to make their own pledges. These photos were shared through Interior Health’s intranet communications, along with articles and information on Change Day to update Interior Health pledge numbers and remind others to pledge and share. Nursing leadership students have also partnered with the Quality and Safety Department to set up a Change Day pledge booth and talk with people face-to-face to encourage them to make a pledge. All pledges are displayed on the Change Wall behind the booth.
Using all of these different strategies we are striving to get people to pledge, to make changes, and to meet our goal of 5,000 pledges. Join us in pledging to change and improve health care and wellbeing!
