We’re excited to introduce you to two new team members who are joining us through our new Clinician Fellowship in Health Care Quality program!
Mike Bergunder, a Métis emergency physician, joins us having completed a residency in rural family medicine through the University of Alberta, and a fellowship in emergency medicine through UBC. He’s currently working as an emergency physician in the Okanagan and as a virtual physician with HealthLinkBC. Mike has an interest in cultural safety and hopes that this fellowship will help explore avenues to foster equity in access to medicine and the delivery of culturally safe health care
And Anish Mitra is a critical care physician and researcher working in the intensive care unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital. After working at Microsoft as a software developer, Anish attended medical school, residency and completed a critical care fellowship at UBC, and went on to study a Master of Public Health in epidemiology at Harvard. His interests include implementing data-informed quality improvement models that continually provide clinicians and health care teams with real-time information to guide patient care.
Mike and Anish will work alongside our staff and clinical leads on initiatives focused on health care quality. They’ll contribute to key decisions and strategies while gaining exposure to different aspects of health care administration, improvement science and engagement of patient partners and other key system stakeholders. Welcome, Mike and Anish!
