Recent tragedies and protests around race-based violence and discrimination are reminders that racism is a reality for too many people, including British Columbians. We recognize we have more to do to enhance our knowledge, continue our cultural safety and humility journey, support anti-racism and acknowledge our unconscious biases. Our role is to identify and highlight systemic barriers and power imbalances that impact the quality of care and collaborate with our partners to find solutions. We will continue this work.
Recently BC’s Lieutenant Governor, Janet Austin, launched an effort to promote the ideals of diversity and inclusion called #DifferentTogether. The pledge is a promise to uphold and promote diversity as a fundamental value and speak up to oppose racism and hate in all its forms. We are committing to this pledge.
We strive for high-quality and sustainable health care for all. There is no place for racism. We invite you to join us in supporting the #DifferentTogether pledge.
