Improving Health Care Together Kits
Our partners have shared with us that meaningful engagement needs improvement. We listened and created Improving Health Care Together Kits, a tool that supports patient partners and health organizations to take on meaningful work to improve the quality of care together.
We’re making partnerships the easy choice for patients and health care teams by supporting them to work together.
Why did we create the kits?
Your time is valuable. The Improving Health Care Together Kits are self-directed, so they work for you, when and where you need it. The goal is to increase the confidence of health care and patient partners to work together. We know the more prepared you feel, the better the outcomes of your engagement.
What engagement opportunities are covered?
The first two, Leadership Job Interview Panels and Patient & Family Advisory Councils are some of the most frequent engagement opportunities. We continue to identify other opportunities that could benefit from an enhanced orientation and welcome any input you may have.
Who was involved?
Health Quality BC is working with health care and patient partners to co-produce resources to support your engagement practice. We want to enhance and support the work happening across BC and use our networks to share the work with more people.
Our Newest Kit
Patient & Family Advisory Council
If you are looking to engage with patients and families in health care planning and don’t know where to start, the new Improving Health Care Together Kit by Health Quality BC, developed with Fraser Health, is your guide to creating or strengthening Patient & Family Advisory Councils (PFACs).
Packed with tips, tools, and templates, this kit empowers health care teams to make patient partnerships seamless and impactful.
Why PFACs Matter: Building Connections That Improve Care
Strong PFACs aren’t just about improving processes—they foster meaningful relationships.
“PFACs allow services to be planned with patients and families, not just for them,” says Laura Klein, Clinical Practice Consultant at Fraser Health. Patient partner Amanda Cronkite adds: “It is much about the human connection element that comes with PFACs. PFACs give us a voice in shaping the care we receive while building trust and collaboration.”
