SQAN Webinar | Building Resilient Systems for Surgical Improvement
SQAN Webinar | August 2019
In the world of surgery, pursuing improvements in quality of care while running day-to-day operations is hard. Whether you’re a physician, clerk, nurse or administrator, you may find that introducing improvements in one area negatively impacts others – or that the weight of competing initiatives, policies, strategies, budgets and staff or physician priorities stalls your improvement ideas before they can even get started.
At this Surgical Quality Action Network (SQAN) webinar, we lean in to this complexity with internationally acclaimed researcher Jeffrey Braithwaite. Learn how improvements in quality of care are a natural consequence of specific types of environments and work cultures – and find out what you can do to create and foster these environments and cultures yourself. This webinar will also have applications beyond surgical services! If you are committed to improving care quality anywhere on the health care spectrum, you’ll learn new tips and actionable insights to help guide change in your organization.
After this webinar, you will be able to:
- Understand why changing behaviours, patterns or processes in surgical services can be so difficult
- Use a complexity science lens to understand tough issues in your own work
- Describe the types of cultures and environments that naturally generate improvements – and how to help create them
